Chippety, chip, chip.

Progress !

I've begun the oh so tedious task of chipping. Well, one of the jeeps anyway, but it's a start.

Certainly not a quick process and one that is best accomplished over several sessions.

It is always difficult to judge the effect, especially on a light surface, but I imagine these jeeps would have looked slightly the worse for wear.

Process here is an initial round of sponge chips using a lighter version of the base colour; in this case ModelAir 075 Sand. Once this is complete the centre of some of the chips is filled in with 941 Burnt Umber. For the deeper chipping I used 822 German Camo Black Brown.

As you can see, the effect looks quite harsh here but we have to bear in mind that this before the pin wash and the whole thing will get toned down with the dust layers later on.

That's it for a while, still a lot of this nonsense to do yet.

Until the next time.
